Finding Species' scientist-photographers photo-document species in the field or captivity, using pioneering standardized methods to document endangered species and create trademark photos widely recognizable to scientific and public audiences. We take unique artistic pictures against a black background, eliminating distracting elements and capturing up-close the individuality and identifying characteristics of the subject. The vivid images are so compelling that they can be successfully integrated into educational campaign materials to convince leaders and the general public about the value of the species. The animals’ health and welfare is a top priority when photographing, as well as the safety of staff photographers. Animals photographed in captivity are photographed within their present enclosures, where we assemble a temporary studio under the supervision of animal-care experts. The photography is conducted in the presence of the curator of the Zoo or rescue center, and/or the keeper directly responsible for the animals' well-being. When photographing in the field, we are careful not to disturb any sensitive behaviors such as courtship rituals or nesting activity.
